Album Releases

Cunning-ham but the only thing runnin is numbers fam
Jigga held you down six summers; damn, where's the love?

Summer is usually a big season for music. In my opinion, the past couple of summers have been disappointing as far as music is concerned. This summer has been cool so far. Albums that have dropped so far that are getting a lot of buzz are Eminem: Relapse, Cam'Ron: Crime Pays, Chrisette Michele: Epiphany and Method Man/Redman: Blackout 2.

There are a couple more albums that are slated to drop by the end of the summer that I'm looking forward to. Two of these albums are Trey Songz: Ready which drops on August 4th. Guest appearances include Fabolous, Ne-Yo, J. Holiday, Drake, Chris Brown, The Game. Production by Stargate and Jermaine Dupri (which is not surprising considering the Ocean's 7 collabo). Trey Songz has been killing the mixtape circuit remaking hits like Bust My Windows, Day and Night, Rockin That Thing and Blame It.

The first single on his album is "I Need A Girl"

Another album that I'm checking for is from on of my favorite rappers, Fabolous. I don't think he gets a lot of credit he deserves as a lyricist. IMO, I think he's a better rapper than Lil Wayne. Yeah, I said it. Now what! Fab has also been jumping on a gang of remixes and the mixtape circuit. His last album From Nothing to Something was banger. His last mixtape with DJ Drama was a beast. If you haven't heard it you can download it here. His album, Loso's Way is slated to drop June, 30th. Guest apperances include Jay-Z, Marsha Ambrosious, Lil Wayne, Trey Songz, The-Dream, Jeremih, Ryan Leslie & Keri Hilson.

His first two singles are "Throw It In The Bag" ft. The-Dream

and "Its My Time" ft. Jerimih

Laughter

What soap is to the body, laughter is to the soul. ~Yiddish Proverb

When people are laughing, they're generally not killing each other. ~Alan Alda

I love to laugh. I laugh all the time. I laugh at people's jokes and just at random words or at something I'm thinking about. I'm known for my laughter (and my smile/smiling). A sense of humor is a wonderful gift - being able to look at the lighter side of life makes it so much more worthwhile.

Comedies are the best to me. While I love black comedians like Bernie Mac, Martin, Eddie Murphy (earlier works), etc. It seems that the comedies that I can watch over and over star white comedians (with the exception of Trading Places and Coming to America). A few of my favorite are:

Anchorman: Legend of Ron Burgundy (I've seen this movie at least 20 times and I basically know the words to the entire movie).

Nacho Libre (I saw this in the movies by accident. I really slept on it but its hilarious).

Wedding Crashers.

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (Another Will Ferrell classic).

Bold
Superbad (nuff said).

I have all of these movies on DVD and I constantly watch them. I might quote them in random conversations. Some people get it and some people don't. I know I have a problem but still it makes me laugh. :-)

Humble Confidence

And I'm not cocky, I'm confident
So when you tell me I'm the best its a compliment
~Jadakiss

I'm very confident in most things that I do. Whether its academics, sports (basketball) or with the opposite sex I'm my own biggest fan. Some of my friends have called me cocky but I think that they are jealous they are just misjudging my supreme confidence. I think that there is indeed a difference between the two.

What does one have to lose by thinking they are the shit? Every morning I look in the mirror and admire how handsome I am. When I'm walking anywhere and I see good- looking girls or not so good-looking girls, I think to myself, "I know she wants me." One of my favorite songs is Clipse's (ft. Kanye), "Kinda Like A Big Deal". I mean check the 'About Me' section of my blog. lol. That's not cockiness , it's confidence.

I know what you're thinking. "That sounds hella cocky to me." To that I say as much confidence as I have, I am still very grounded and humble. I had meagerly upbringings. I know where I came from and where I'm going.

I think I'm confident because I'm sure of myself, my identity, and my abilities. On the flip side I'm also humble because I don't brag about those qualities to everyone I meet except the basketball part. So what are you? Humble? Cocky? Confident? A mix of all three?

Happy Birthday...

Today is May 17, 2009. This blog post is dedicated to my family members whose birthdays fall on today.

First is my older and only sister Omolara. Today she turns 36. Happy birthday big sis.

Next is my cousin Oluseun. He is 28 today. He is probably somewhere bench pressing a Chevy Nova. lol.

Last but certainly not least actually the most are my two more of my brothers (twins), Taiwo and Kehinde. Today they turn 26 years old. They were probably at some club last night inebriated and they'll probably be out again tonight hitting some club.

Happy Birthday to all of you. I hope you enjoy your special day. :-)

I Remember

I have a great memory. The people who make Ginkoba might have used my brain as a template for how they wanted their pills to work. If I develop Alzheimer's Disease (AD) in my older age it will be very unfortunate.

I remember a lot of random facts. I remember dates and events. This is why history was always one of my best subjects in high school I even took AP European History and college. I wish my great memory worked on the verbal section of the SAT and GRE. lol. I remember birthdays of friends from elementary and middle school. I remember anniversaries of ex-girlfriends (today would have been an anniversary of an ex). I remember when I was three how much I hated my baby sitter. She used to make us eat spaghetti o's mixed with chicken noodle soup and she smelled like moth balls. She also kept the television on the Golden Girls.

Having a great memory kind of sucks sometimes too. It makes it hard to forgive people who have wronged me. I still vividly remember that boy who pushed me down in the 2nd grade and I scraped my knee real bad. His name was Reginald by the way. To this day I have this issue.

Are you the type of person who forgets a conversation you had five minutes ago? Do you have an equally impressive memory? Are you a mix of the two?

5/3/09-Dream

Last night I had a dream that I was at some conference at some hotel. I was there with one of my close female friends Patricia and my mentor Dr. S. We were getting ready to leave the hotel and we were up on some like on the 20th floor or something (i remember looking out the window beside the elevator). So as we all get on the elevator Patricia pushes the button for the 9th floor for what ever reason. At this point the elevator starts to free fall and my life flashes before my eyes. Just as the elevator was about to crash to the ground my cell phone rang and I woke up. It was like 5:40 in the morning. As I cursed facebook mobile and went back to sleep I drifted right back into same dream. Patricia, Dr. S and I were walking out the lobby. These homeless guys were out in front of the hotel and they started harassing us. I ended up in a fight with said bums and then I woke up and it day time outside.

*****************************************

Falling Elevator-Going down in an elevator is a common metaphor for entering into deeper levels of subconscious awareness. Elevators that fall reflect feelings of being out of control.

Homeless Guys-May not be the negative it appears to be. It may pertain to a journeyer, one who continually progresses along a life path.
